HICKORY, N.C. — The Lenoir-Rhyne College softball team split a doubleheader with Presbyterian College in a South Atlantic Conference match up Saturday afternoon at Bears Field.  The Bears (26-11, 1-1) won the first game, 5-2, before Blue Hose (34-9, 3-3) took the second contest, 13-1.

Game One-Lenoir-Rhyne 5, Presbyterian 2

The Bears jumped ahead early thanks to a two-run single by junior second baseman Chrissy Lunsford (Tyrone, Ga.) in the first inning.

L-R senior left fielder Brandi Mueller (La Porte, Texas) added an RBI single in the second to make it 3-0 before PC's Jamie Vining (Fayetteville, Ga.) connected on a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning for the Blue Hose's first run.

However, the Bears pushed the lead to four, 5-1, in the fourth inning on senior third baseman Brady Horne's (Decatur, Ga.) two-run single. Vining (2-for-3, 2 RBI) finished the scoring with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Alexis Kreske (Miami, Fla.) pitched the complete-game victory to improve to 13-4 on the year while Megan Wheelus (Florence, S.C.) suffered the loss for PC.
