LADY BLUE HOSE WIN TWO AGAINST LADY LIONS
 IN SOFTBALL LEAGUE ACTION 

CLINTON, S.C. -- Presbyterian College Softball team swept Mars Hill College Thursday afternoon at the PC Softball Complex. Senior Brooke Norris (Anderson, SC) and sophomore Samantha Slater (Westerville, OH) both threw shutouts as PC won game one, 3-0, and won game two, 6-0. 

Presbyterian College goes to 37-10 overall and 6-4 in South Atlantic Conference play while Mars Hill College goes to 9-40 overall and 0-8 in SAC play. 

Game 1- Presbyterian 3, Mars Hill 0

Presbyterian's senior shortstop Jamie Vining (Fayetteville, GA) led off the fourth with a walk and was driven on a triple by senior outfielder Amanda Teal (Chapin, SC) for the game's first run. Teal also crossed home plate as she scored on a wild pitch by Mars Hill's Lyn Loomis (Ocean Isle, NC). 

The Blue Hose would add another run in the fifth with freshman second baseman Rachel Bailey (Howard, OH) hitting a double to score Allison Tebbe (Alpharetta, GA). 

Leading Presbyterian at the plate was Teal who went one for three with one RBI and one run scored. The Lions were led by Carissa Rice (Weaverville, NC) who went two for three at the plate. 

PC's Norris picked up her tenth victory of the season while Loomis received the loss for the Lady Lions. Norris pitched seven scoreless innings allowing only five hits while striking out one batter.

Game 2- Presbyterian 6, Mars Hill 0

In game two, PC's Slater and Megan Wheelus (Florence, SC) combined to shutout the Lions allowing only three hits in the game. At the plate, PC was led by freshman Jessica Peterka (Sarasota, FL) who went two for three with one RBI to lead the Blue Hose to the 6-0 victory. 

In the bottom of the second inning, PC's junior outfielder Whitney Hannon (Greer, SC) scored on a an error by Mars Hill's first baseman for the game's first run. 

The Blue Hose struck again in the third with Teal scoring on a Peterka single to take the 2-0 lead. 

In the fifth, PC broke the game open by scoring four runs including Jamie Vining's solo homerun, her fourth of the season. 

PC's Slater picked up her tenth victory of the year while Kristi Marszalec (West Bloomfield, MI) picked up the loss for the Lady Lions of Mars Hill College. 

Presbyterian returns to action this Wednesday, April 14 against SAC rival Newberry College at home starting at 3:00 p.m. Mars Hill returns to action this Monday, April 12 against Brevard College in Brevard, N.C. with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
