SIGNS WITH LADY BLUE HOSE SOFTBALL
CLINTON,
S.C. — Jean Smith
has signed to play softball at Presbyterian College announced
today by head coach Jeff
Nickerson.
Smith, a 5-8 pitcher from Tampa, Fla. has played the last two years
at Saint Petersburg Junior College and head coach Lance Lamport. Smith compiled a 21-5 record on the mound this past
season while earning first team all-conference honors and was
named team MVP. In addition, she is a two-time all-academic
selection (2003 & 2004) in the classroom while at St.
Pete.
During her high school career, Smith played for head coach Ed
Gallio at Robinson High School in Tampa, Fla.
“Jean will be a great addition to our pitching staff,” said
Nickerson. “We look forward to making an impact for the Lady
Blue Hose for years to come.”
Smith joins Lindsay Wismer
of Sarasota, Fla., Anne
Ward of Cumming, Ga., and Katie
Connor of Moore, S.C. who signed to play softball at
Presbyterian College back in May.
The Lady Blue Hose are coming off a their best campaign in the
history of the program this past spring. PC posted a
program-record 48 wins against 13 losses and finished tied for
second in the South Atlantic Conference regular season (9-5).
The team won their first Food Lion/SAC Tournament title in
April and earned the program’s first NCAA Tournament bid.
The team advanced to the NCAA Division II South Atlantic
Region Championship game where they lost to top seed and No. 1
team in the country, Kennesaw State University.
