LADY BLUE HOSE SWEEP LADY PACERS, 2-0 & 2-1 
IN SOFTBALL ACTION 

CLINTON, S.C.-- Presbyterian College Lady Blue Hose pulled out two close games to sweep the USC-Aiken Lady Pacers, 2-0 & 2-1 at the PC Softball Complex. Presbyterian improves to 25-5 overall while USC-Aiken falls to 18-16 on the year.

Game #1 - Presbyterian 2, USC-Aiken 0 

PC's Megan Wheelus leads Blue Hose to 2-0 win in game #1

Presbyterian’s freshman pitcher Megan Wheelus (Florence, SC) threw seven complete innings and shut out the Lady Pacers to win 2-0. Wheelus pitched her second shut out of the season and picked up her sixth victory while only allowing only two hits to USC-Aiken.

Presbyterian took the early lead and held on to the lead with solid pitching and defense. The Lady Blue Hose took the lead in the bottom of the third with senior Amanda Teal (Chapin, SC) hitting a single to drive in sophomore third baseman Haley Brooks (Tifton, GA) for a 1-0 lead. After Brooks scored, freshman Rachel Bailey (Howard, OH) scored on an error by USC-Aiken’s Jamie Cornwell (Mt. Crawford, VA).  

USC-Aiken’s Jayme Durand (N. Augusta, SC) had the only two hits for the Lady Pacers.

PC’s Wheelus picked up the victory for the Blue Hose while JoAnn Jones (Powhatan, VA) picked up the loss for the Lady Pacers.

Game #2 - Presbyterian 2, USC Aiken 1 (8 Innings)

In game two, PC scored the games first run in the bottom of the fourth. Senior Nickie Templeton (Clinton, SC) doubled and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Amanda Carvajal (Merced, CA). Templeton scored on a fielders choice grounder by junior Whitney Hannon (Greer, SC).

USC-Aiken tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth. Sophomore Temeka Floyd (Newberry, SC) scored on a wild pitch by sophomore Samantha Slater (Westerville, OH). The Pacers then loaded the bases but PC's senior pitcher Brooke Norris (Anderson, SC) came in to pitch and got Ashley Dyches (Aiken, SC) to line into a double play. 

In the bottom of the seventh, the Blue Hose could not get a run to cross as they left two runners on base.

Entering extra innings, PC held USC-Aiken scoreless in the top of the eighth. In the bottom half of the inning, PC's Brooks hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Jessica Kilapatrick (Hendersonville, NC) to win the ball game 2-1. 

PC's Norris picked up her eighth victory of the year while Amy Fox (Bridgewater, VA) picked up the loss. 

Presbyterian returns to action tomorrow afternoon for the USC-Spartanburg Spring Tournament held in Spartanburg, S.C. PC opens with Queens University at 3 p.m.
