BLUE HOSE SWEEP ANDERSON

ANDERSON, SC – The #21-ranked Presbyterian College softball team swept a doubleheader from Anderson College on Friday afternoon, winning the first game 3-2 and taking the nightcap 9-3.

In the first game, the Blue Hose (6-2) took the lead in the top of the sixth with a two out RBI single by Rachel Bailey (Howard, OH). PC held Anderson (4-8) scoreless over the next two innings to seal the victory.

Bailey, Whitney Hannon (Greer, SC) and Katie Fite (Conway, SC) all had two hits to lead the PC offensive attack.

Megan Wheelus (Florence, SC) picked up the victory on the mound for the Blue Hose in relief of Sam Slater (Westerville, SC).

In the second game, PC jumped out to a 9-2 lead over the first four innings and cruised to a relatively easy 9-3 victory.

PC jumped on the board in the first on a Jessica Peterka (Sarasota, FL) single to center that scored Bailey.

After Anderson took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first, PC took the lead for good with two runs on two hits.

Amanda Carvajal (Merced, CA) reached on an error to start the inning and scored on a single by Lauren Hixson (Spartanburg, SC).  Hixson came around to score on a Bailey triple down the right field line to give the Blue Hose the lead.

PC would score three more in the third and three in the fourth to set the final margin.

Peterka had three hits to lead PC at the plate, while Shannon Vining (Fayetteville, GA), Bailey, Hannon, and Hixson all had two hits.

Jessica Flanagan (Piedmont, SC) picked up the complete game victory on the mound for the Blue Hose, allowing only one earned run on seven hits.

PC will return at action tomorrow as they host North Greenville College in a doubleheader beginning at 1pm.
