PC Softball Adds Parker
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College
softball coach Dave Majeski announced the addition of Rachel
Parker to the PC Softball Program on Monday. Parker is
transferring to PC from Belmont Abbey College and will be a
redshirt sophomore with the Blue Hose after sitting out her
freshman year with a shoulder injury.
“We are extremely excited that Rachel
has decided to join in on what we are building here at PC,”
said Majeski. “Rachel was signed to our roster as a
replacement to graduated senior first baseman Jessica
Peterka and we think she will step in and compete for
playing time right away. Her power is going to help out the
Blue Hose softball team immensely.”
Parker is the daughter of Ricky and
Bennie Parker and she brings a wealth of power. In fact,
last season in Parker’s 96 at-bats last season she finished
the year leading Belmont Abbey in average (.375), slugging
percentage (.646) and on-base percentage (.435).
She concluded the season with 24 RBIs
and 14 extra-base hits, including six home runs and eight
doubles.
Parker played her high school softball
for Coach Marty Hale at Columbia High School in Lake City,
Fla. During her time at Columbia, Parker received a variety
of awards. She was named second team All-State as a senior
and first team All-Area after her senior year.
A member of the Florida Athletic
Coaches Association All-Star squad in 2005, Parker was named
Columbia’s Most Valuable Offensive Player after her senior
campaign, co-Most Valuable Offensive Player after her junior
year and Most Valuable Defensive Player after her sophomore
season.
The starting goalkeeper on Columbia’s
soccer team, Parker was a National Honor Society and Beta
Club member while in high school.
