Pairings Announced For Food Lion SAC Softball Tournament

ROCK HILL, S.C. -
Presbyterian enters the 2007 Food Lion SAC Softball Tournament as the fourth seed and will host fifth-seeded Catawba in the opening round of the event at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19 at the PC Softball Complex. The game will mark the opening of the tournament.

The Lady Blue Hose ended the 2007 regular season at 29-14. Both PC and Catawba finished league play with an identical 7-7 mark, but the Lady Blue Hose swept Catawba in a home doubleheader in March to acquire the fourth seed.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, ranked 17th in the last week's National Fastpitch Coaches Division II national poll, are the top seed for the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament.

Newberry and Mars Hill tied for sixth in the regular season standings. The two teams split their regular-season meeting, and both teams split against top seed Lenoir-Rhyne. Newberry earned the sixth seed by virtue of its one win against second seed Carson-Newman, while Mars Hill lost both meetings against Carson-Newman.

Carson-Newman and Wingate tied for second place in the regular season standings with 8-6 conference records. The Lady Eagles earned the second seed with their season sweep over Wingate.

Seventh seed Mars Hill (6-8, 32-20) will face second seed Carson-Newman (8-6, 32-12) at 2 p.m.

Sixth seed Newberry (6-8, 32-23-1) will face third seed Wingate (8-6, 33-18) at 11:45 a.m.

Tournament play continues with six games on Friday. Three more games are set for Saturday. The championship game will be played Sunday at Presbyterian College at 1 p.m., with a second game, if necessary, to follow.

All-Tournament tickets will be available at the gate for $12 for adults and $6 for children and students. Daily ticket prices are $6 for adults and $3 for children.
