Head coach Stephanie Allen is the first coach of Presbyterian College’s newest varsity sport - the women’s lacrosse program. Allen will guide the Lady Blue Hose through their first varsity season as she begins to lay down the foundation for a strong women’s lacrosse tradition at Presbyterian College.

The school announced plans to add both men’s and women’s lacrosse to its athletic program beginning with the 2004-05 academic year on November 14, 2003. The women’s lacrosse team competed at the club level during the 2004-05 season prior to this spring’s first varsity campaign.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Allen brings a wealth of experience to Presbyterian College. She was a four-year letterwinner as a midfielder at nearby Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. During her collegiate career, she served as team captain and was selected to play in the NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse All-Star North/South Game following her senior season. In addition, Allen was selected to play for the Southeast Women’s National Team in 2000 and served as a player on the Eltham Senior Women’s Lacrosse Team in Australia in 2001, while coaching the Eltham Senior ‘B’ Team.

She graduated from Limestone with a bachelors of arts degree in Graphic Design and Studio Art and with a minor in Computer Science in 2003. While at Limestone, Allen was selected to serve on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (2000-03) and the Student Alumni Leadership Council (2001-03).

Following graduation in 2003, she served as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Limestone during the 2004 fall semester. Allen also had the opportunity to travel to Prague in the Czech Republic this past summer as a member of a U.S. International Squad. The team spent two weeks in Prague and played the Czech National Team in a series of games in order to help prepare the Czechs for their appearance in the 2005 IFWLA (International Federation of Women’s Lacrosse Association) World Cup held in Annapolis, Md., June 28-July 2.

Allen is on the US Lacrosse Board of Directors for the South Carolina Chapter, serving as the Director At-Large for Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse. Along with her lacrosse coaching duties, she also serves as the head coach for the Blue Hose men’s and women’s cross country squads.
