Samantha
Slater will serve as a
volunteer assistant
coach for the Presbyterian softball team under new head coach Dave Majeski
during the 2007 season.
Slater,
a former standout on the PC softball team from 2002-06 joins
the team as a volunteer assistant. Her duties are to assist
Majeski and Schuerman in all areas of the program. Slater is
currently working towards completing a dual degree in
biology and psychology at Presbyterian.
“I
consider myself fortunate to have a former player with the
skills of Samantha on my staff,” said Majeski. “She already
has strong ties to the community and to the team which are a
valuable asset to me in addition to her skills on the
field.”
Slater
was twice named to the SAC All-Tournament team (2004-05) and
was the SAC Tournament MVP in the 2004 season. She ranks
second in PC softball history in career wins (50), games
started (97) and innings pitched (607.1). She is third in
overall appearances (122) and strikeouts (324) which she
punctuated with a 105 strikeout season in 2006 as a senior.
She also ranks in the top 10 in school history for career
ERA (2.82), complete games (51), shutouts (10) and single
season complete games (220 and innings pitched (180).
The
Westerville, Ohio native plans to finish her degree in May.Back
