Thomas
Addison, a 2001 graduate of Presbyterian
College, enters his first season as his alma mater’s head
golf coach.
Addison replaces his
father, Tommy Addison, at the helm of the Blue Hose golf program after
serving as an assistant coach for the last two seasons. The elder
Addison retired in May of 2005 after serving as head coach for the
last 13 years.
“It
is a privilege and honor to coach golf at Presbyterian College, ”
said Addison. “I have watched the program grow over the last 13
years. I look forward to building a competitive women’s program and
continuing the outstanding record of the men’s program during my
tenure.”
This
past season Addison helped coach the Blue Hose to a seventh place ranking in the final NCAA Division II
Southeast Region standings, win their sixth Food Lion South Atlantic
Conference Tournament title, and earn the program’s ninth bid to the
NCAA Division II Super Regional Golf Tournament.
In
2004, Addison helped led PC to seven top 10
finishes in 11 tournaments including winning the Carolina Sands
Intercollegiate and received a bid to the NCAA Division II Super
Regional Tournament for the eighth time in program history.
Addison is a
former three-year letterwinner with the Blue Hose. During his playing
career, he earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors for three
straight years (1999-2001) while also earning SAC All-Tournament
honors in 2001, and SAC Academic Honor Roll selection in 1998. As a
player, he helped lead the Blue Hose to the 2001 Food Lion/SAC
Tournament title and three straight trips to the NCAA Division II
National Tournament. He served a team captain during the 2000 &
’01 seasons and was named team MVP in 2000 and earned the
program’s Scotsman Club Achievement Award in 2001.
Prior
to returning to PC, he spent the previous year as an assistant golf
professional at Musgrove Mill Golf Course located in Clinton, S.C.
