Carson-Newman Sweeps Blue Hose in SAC Volleyball Action JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The Carson-Newman College volleyball squad avenged their 3-1 setback on September 22 Friday night with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-17, 30-22) sweep of Presbyterian College. Kelli Sorensen had 12 kills and Kelsey Fleck added 11 to guide the Eagles to the South Atlantic Conference victory over the Blue Hose. Carson-Newman (14-12, 5-7 SAC) hit a match best .412, including a .481 clip in game two. Kari Gibson led the Lady Eagles by hitting .538 for the match with eight kills and 37 assists. Melissa Miller added nine kills, three digs, and two blocks against the Blue Hose (7-22, 1-10 SAC). Katie Troyer added eight kills and two block assists while Haley Bush anchored the C-N defense with eight digs. Bush also added five service aces. Meg Davis contributed four kills and two blocks for the Lady Eagles. PC's Justine Lanchester (Downs, Ill.) and Lauren Mason (Peachtree City, Ga.) led the Blue Hose with seven kills apiece while Rachel Lewis (Bloomington, Ill.) had 22 assists. The Lady Eagles return to Holt Fieldhouse on Saturday, October 21 to face Newberry while the Blue Hose travel to Greeneville, Tenn. to take on Tusculum College at 1 p.m. on Saturday as well. |
