Presbyterian Volleyball Finish Tournament Play with 3-1 Win over Florida Tech

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Junior Lauren Mason (Peachtree City, Ga.) led the Blue Hose volleyball squad to a 3-1 victory over Florida Institute of Technology at the final day of action at Ramada Limited Azalea Classic.  Mason paced all players with her sixth double-double of the season on game-highs of 14 kills and 18 digs.  The game scores were 30-23, 27-30, 30-15, 30-25.

Presbyterian was in control of the first game from the beginning, forcing an FIT timeout as the Blue Hose led 10-4.  Freshman Julie Hollrah (Glenwood, Md.) served six straight points to build the Blue Hose lead to 23-11 and PC would go on to roll to the 30-23 win.

The second game was much closer as both teams traded points throughout the match until the Panthers took the lead for good at 23-21 on a kill by Brenna Lane.  FIT was able to hang on for the 30-27 victory.

The Blue Hose had no contest in the third game as PC hit .200 to the Panthers’ -.026 hitting percentage.

In the fourth and final game, the Blue Hose jumped out to a 5-0 lead.  FIT tied the game for the last time at 7-7 and PC took control of the game from there, never relinquishing their lead.

Three other Blue Hose players notched double digit digs as junior Jodi Palmer (Plain City, Ohio) and sophomore Rachel Lewis (Bloomington, Ill.) each tallied 13 and Hollrah added 10.  Sophomore Justine Lanchester (Downs, Ill.) served up three aces along with seven kills.

Lindsay Foster was the Panthers’ top attack person with 11 kills, while Melissa Reinders digged 13 kill attempts.  Amanda Boyce had 12 digs and Katie Dobek contributed 10 digs.
