Lenoir-Rhyne Sweeps Blue Hose in SAC Volleyball Action

HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne College volleyball team (14-8, 6-1) made it three in a row with a 3-0 sweep (30-13, 30-21, 30-17) of Presbyterian College (7-15, 1-6) in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday afternoon at Shuford Gymnasium.

With the victory, Lenoir-Rhyne remained in second place in the league standings, one match behind Wingate University.

In the sweep for L-R, sophomore middle blocker Abby Smith (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem) led the way with a game-high 14 kills while junior libero Catherine Fulton (Hendersonville, N.C./Hendersonville) and freshman outside hitter Jordan Ledford (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) added 11 digs each.

In addition, Lenoir-Rhyne junior setter Lauren McLelland (Statesville, N.C./West Iredell) dished out 40 assists to go along with nine digs.

For Presbyterian, senior
Danielle Gill (Kings Mountain, N.C.) finished with 12 kills and sophomore Rachel Lewis (Bloomington, Ill.) tallied 25 assists in the contest.
