Four Sign With PC Volleyball
CLINTON, S.C. –
Presbyterian College first-year head volleyball coach Chris
Belshe recently announced four signings to his first
recruiting class at PC.
Amanda Kettles joins the program from Cherokee High School
in Canton, Ga., Elizabeth Heineman comes to PC from Normal
Community West High School in Normal, Ill., Carolyn Fabros
will join the Blue Hose volleyball program out of Huntley
High School in Huntley, Ill. and Ashley Dunlap comes to
Presbyterian’s volleyball program from Greenville High
School in Greenville, S.C.
“Each of the student-athletes that were signed come from
nationally recognized clubs,” remarked Belshe. “One of the
common elements of these clubs is the commitment. They have
had to make significant sacrifices to the sport of
volleyball over the course of their high school careers and
I believe those commitments and sacrifices will carry over
to their success at the next level.
“All of these girls come to PC with the ability to have an
instant impact and they all have the ability to improve our
team’s overall ball control and defense. Off of the court
all of these girls are extremely intelligent individuals who
have earned academic honors and recognition. I am so pleased
to have not only these athletes, but their families joining
our volleyball community here at Presbyterian College.”
Kettles is the daughter of Kevin and Lori Kettles. The
offensive Player of the Year on her club team in 2006,
Kettles was chosen All-County in 2005 and 2006 in the high
school ranks with Cherokee High School. Born in Princeton,
N.J., Kettles was the most valuable player of her high
school volleyball team in her senior season of 2006.
Kettles is not the only member of her family to play
intercollegiate sports. Her father played basketball at
Rider and her grandfather James Franklin Kettles was a
football All-America selection at Notre Dame.
“Amanda will be expected to come in and put up a big block
right away,” said Belshe. “She can contribute in the middle
or on the right side and her blocking abilities will be a
big help to our defense. Amanda has the ability to become an
exceptional volleyball player at the college level.”
Heineman is the daughter of Edward and Alyce Heineman. A
member of the National Honors Society and her school’s
yearbook Editor-in-Chief, Heineman received numerous awards
in high school, including Big 12 All-Conference plaudits.
She was named the most valuable player of her high school
team and also has a stout athletic lineage as her father
played college baseball at Illinois State University.
“Liz was recently named to prepvolleyball.com’s All-America
defensive dandy list,” said Belshe. “She possesses the
fundamentals and big match experience to come in and have an
instant impact on our team’s serve receive and defense. Liz
has an extremely competitive personality that not only
drives her to excellence but makes those around her better.”
Fabros is the daughter of Robert and Susan Fabros. A team
captain on her club team, Fabros was chosen second team
All-Conference in the 2006 high school season.
A four-year starter at Huntley High School, Fabros is a
member of the National Honors Society.
“Carolyn is a great addition to the team,” mused Belshe.
“She has the ability to come in and contribute on the
outside as well as play in the back row. She has the
fundamental skill base to improve our defense dramatically.”
Dunlap is the daughter of David and Pamela Dunlap. She was
named All-State and All-Region in 2006 and to the
North/South All-Star game at the conclusion of the season.
A member of the National Honors Society, Dunlap plans to
major in Biology at Presbyterian.
“Ashley seeks perfection in everything she does,” noted
Belshe. “She is an incredibly driven individual who
consistently seeks out the biggest challenges. She has the
ability to come in and run our offense as a setter behind
Rachel or she can come in and have a huge impact on our team
ball control. Her relentless pursuit of excellence will
insure her own personal success and I expect to see that
personality carry over to the team.”
