PC Volleyball Releases 2007 Schedule

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head volleyball coach Chris Belshe announced the release of the 2007 Blue Hose volleyball schedule on Wednesday. The schedule features four tournaments and a full Big South Conference slate.

“This is a very demanding schedule, but one that I am extremely excited about,” said Belshe. “I think that we can compete and win, and I think that the four tournaments that we have to open the season will help prepare us immensely for the latter part of the season and Big South play.”

The Blue Hose will open the 2007 season by traveling to Charlotte, N.C to play in the UNC Charlotte tournament Aug. 24-25. One week later they will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the Jacksonville University Tournament to be contested Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

The next week PC will play three contests at the “Battle at the Beach” in Wilmington, N.C. The event will be hosted by UNC Wilmington. The Blue Hose will then participate in their final tournament of the year in the Western Carolina “Catamount Classic” in Cullowhee, N.C. on Sept. 14-15.

The four tournaments will garner PC a wide assortment of NCAA Division I competition as the Blue Hose will take on teams from the Atlantic 10, the Atlantic Sun, the Big East, the Colonial Athletic Association, the MAC, the MEAC and the SEC.

Due to the amount of tournaments to begin the season, PC does not play its first home tilt until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18 when they welcome Palmetto state rival USC Upstate to the Templeton Center. The game is the first of three consecutive home games and nine home games altogether.

The Blue Hose open their first season of Big South volleyball action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Templeton Center against UNC Asheville.

PC will close out its 2007 home campaign with a four-game homestand beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 against state and Big South rival Coastal Carolina. The Blue Hose will then end the 2007 home schedule at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 against Radford.

The Blue Hose will honor lone senior Lauren Mason (Peachtree City, Ga.) one night before at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 against Liberty.
