NO. 6 LIMESTONE PICKS UP FIRST WIN OF SEASON WITH 21-2 VICTORY OVER PC IN WOMEN’S LACROSSE

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lady Saints of No. 6 Limestone College beat Presbyterian College, 21-2, on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field in women’s lacrosse action.  Limestone’s record is 1-0 for the year, while PC falls to 0-3.

The Lady Saints had nine players score as sophomore midfielder Marissa Pesce (West Babylon, N.Y.) led the way with a game-high five goals, while senior attacker Brooke Nowell (Linthicum, Md.) added three more.  Senior defender Kristin Black (Calgary, Alberta), sophomore midfielder Summer Ferraro (East Setauket, N.Y.), and freshman attacker Danielle Tosky (Bluffton, S.C.) each had two.  Freshmen Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.), Shea Farrell, Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.), Christine Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.), Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), and Jessica Green (Rehoboth Beach, Del.), and sophomore attacker Aricka Piersma (Columbia, S.C.) also scored.  Howard had five assists for the game, while Lickert and Ferraro had three, Tosky and Black had two, and junior attacker Jessica Verran (Lansing, Mich.) had one.  Goalkeepers Jackie Weaver (Carthage, N.Y.) and Erin Cavanaugh (Ellicott City, Md.) both played in the win with Weaver recording five saves.

Freshmen Sally Maple (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Trista Sturdivant (Street, Md.) each scored for the Lady Blue Hose, while Maple picked up an assist.  Freshman Kira Stringer (Marietta, Ga.) and Ashley Baker(Lancaster, S.C.) combined for seven stops in goal for PC.

The Lady Saints travel to Belmont Abbey College on Wednesday, February 22, for a Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference contest at 3:00 in Belmont, N.C.  PC returns to action on Tuesday, February 21, when they host St. Andrews Presbyterian College at 3:00.
