WOMEN’S LACROSSE SET TO START INAUGURAL VARSITY SEASON

CLINTON, S.C. – The time has finally come for the Presbyterian College women’s lacrosse team to kick off the 2006 campaign in the Lady Blue Hose’s first-ever year of competing in NCAA Division II play at the varsity level.  Head coach Stephanie Allen welcomed back 16 players to campus for the spring semester as PC begins its preseason practice tomorrow.

Of the 16 players listed on this year’s roster, 10 were a member of the PC women’s lacrosse club team a year ago under the guidance of Allen.  PC began the spring semester with a team meeting on January 4 followed by a weight-lifting session the next day.  Today, the Lady Blue Hose will have a team run before having a full-fledged practice on Saturday.

“We have just over a month until our game schedule kicks into gear and the preseason schedule will prepare us for what lies ahead for PC this year.  The strength of the schedule increases this year with four nationally Top 10 teams on the schedule, but the Lady Blue Hose are ready to accomplish many "firsts" for the program,” exclaimed Allen.

The start to PC’s regular season will not be an easy one as the Lady Blue Hose host No. 6 Queens University on Saturday, February 11 at noon.

Allen stated, “I am very eager about getting things rolling.  The girls had a great fall season and they are excited about establishing traditions and setting standards as they commence their inaugural varsity season.”
