CLINTON,
S.C. – Rachel Beaumont
(Millersville, Md.), Lauren Thomas
(Waynesville, N.C.), and Megan Woodis (Roswell,
Ga.) have signed national letters of intent to play for
Presbyterian College’s women’s lacrosse team in 2007 as
announced by second-year head coach Stephanie Allen.
“I set out looking for girls that were passionate about the game,
had a good work ethic and attitude, and finally the talent
to contribute at the next level,” expressed Coach Allen.
“This recruiting class is everything I was looking for and
more. I am excited about the early-signing group as a
whole. I believe they will prove early to be great
additions to PC both in the classroom and on the field.”
Beaumont, a 5-9 midfielder, is a product of the lacrosse program at
Severna Park High School, a perennial lacrosse power in
Maryland. She led the squad in goals and assists during her
tenure. Beaumont is also a member of the Skywalkers
Lacrosse Club Team, the No. 1 team in the nation. She was
part of the Skywalkers squad when they won team titles at
the National Draw, the Galaxy Playday, and the Galaxy
National Tournament for several years running.
“Rachel is a tall, quick player full of energy. Her exceptional
ball handling and stick skills along with her amazing vision
prove that she can make things happen on the field. Her
solidity will help her to contribute significantly on the
collegiate level,” stated Coach Allen.
A 5-4 center, Thomas captained her lacrosse team as a sophomore at
Winter Park High School (Fla.). She earned her team’s ‘Most
Improved’ Award as a freshman at Martha’s Vineyard Regional
High School (Mass.). Thomas is extremely active in the
American Cancer Society (ACS) and Waynesville’s Relay for
Life. Currently, she is attending Tuscola High School
(N.C.) and is a member of the National Honor Society,
Student Government, and Ecology Club.
Coach Allen said, “Lauren is the type of person that is going to
produce whatever you ask of her. She has a rare enthusiasm
for the game and the desire to continuously improve her
game. She is definitely going to add great depth to our
midfield.
