PC’s Maple Scores Five
In Loss To Merrimack
HILTON HEAD, S.C.
– Merrimack defeated Presbyterian College 15-13 in women’s
lacrosse action on Monday afternoon at Bluffton High School.
The game was the
first of the year for the Warriors, who improve to 1-0 with
the victory. The Lady Blue Hose are now 3-5 on the season.
Presbyterian
scored 10 goals in the first half to take the halftime lead,
but Merrimack rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn the
victory in the second half, outscoring the Lady Blue Hose
7-3 in the second half.
Sally Maple
(Peachtree City, Ga.) was the catalyst for the Lady Blue
Hose in the first half and the game, netting four goals in
the first stanza.
She was one of
two Lady Blue Hose in the first half to net two or more
goals as teammate Brittni Dulaney (Rome, Ga.) acquired two
goals in the first half.
In total, seven
PC women’s lacrosse student-athletes scored goals in the
first half.
Maple ended her
efforts in the contest with five goals, while Jordan
Newberry (Atlanta, Ga.) finished the game with two goals and
an assist.
Junior
Amanda Simeone (Nashua,
NH) and sophomores
Lauren Leddy (Sea Girt,
NJ) and
Katheen Esposito
(Simsbury, CT) each tallied four goals for
the Warriors.
Presbyterian next
returns home for a 12 noon game at Old Bailey Stadium
against Seton Hill on Tuesday, Mar. 20.
