PC Falls To No. 7 Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer’s Alycia Schwarz led her team with four goals and two assists while teammate Ashlee Hill added five goals in a 21-8 victory over the Lady Blue Hose.

Presbyterian was led on the day offensively by Trista Sturdivant (Street, Md.) and Jordan Newberry (Atlanta, Ga.). Both players finished the game with a team-leading two goals.

Sally Maple (Peachtree City, Ga.) extended her PC overall points lead in the loss with three assists. Maple now has 22 points on the season.

The Lady Falcons controlled 17 of 31 draw controls and nabbed 3 more groundballs on the day. No. 7 Pfeiffer moves to 7-2 while Presbyterian is now 4-7.

With the scored knotted at 4-4 with 21:06 left in the half, Pfeiffer came out of a time-out and scored 10 unanswered goals before Presbyterian scored the last goal of the half to make it 14-5.

During the run Hill scored three of her goals, Schwarz recorded two goals and an assist and Elie Fenton scored twice for the Falcons.

Jenna Handshoe led the Lady Blue Hose in ground balls, scooping up four in the game.

Currently ranked sixth in the nation in save percentage, PC’s Erin McBurnette (Roswell, Ga.) made 11 saves for the Lady Blue Hose in the first half in the cage. Kira Stringer (Marietta, Ga.) played in goal in the second half for PC, saving seven Falcon shots.

Presbyterian will next play its final home tilt of the 2007 season at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Johnson Field at Old Bailey Stadium. The Lady Blue Hose will honor their three seniors prior to the contest.
