Scores Program-High 20 Goals In Win Over Seton Hill
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College’s women’s
lacrosse team continued its rewriting of the record books on
Tuesday afternoon in a 20-1 victory over Seton Hill
University at Old Bailey Stadium.
The 20 goals acquired by the Lady Blue Hose marked the first
time in its two-year varsity history that they had scored 20
or more. The win over the Griffins is also the first time
that PC’s women’s lacrosse team has defeated an opponent
twice.
Presbyterian claimed its first victory all-time in the 2006
season with a 15-10 win over Seton Hill on Apr. 2.
The Lady Blue Hose never had any trouble with the Griffins,
scoring in the first 10 seconds of the game when Jordan
Newberry found the back of the cage.
PC would eventually finish the first half of play with a
12-0 advantage.
PC was led in the 20-1 victory over Seton Hill by freshman
Lauren Thomas (Waynesville, N.C.), who finished the contest
with a game-high four goals.
Thomas concluded the game as one of four Lady Blue Hose with
three or more goals and one of five PC student-athletes with
two or more goals.
Shannon Strodel (Duluth, Ga.), Newberry (Atlanta, Ga.) and
Brittni Dulaney (Rome, Ga.) all tallied three goals in the
contest.
PC’s Berkley Aiken (Charlotte, N.C.) finished the contest
with the most points after dishing out a game-high four
assists and scoring two of her own.
In total, 10 Lady Blue Hose scored in the game on 37
Presbyterian shots.
Seton Hill’s Lindsay Smith netted the Griffins only goal of
the contest when she scored on a free position shot in the
second half to make it 15-1 in favor of Presbyterian. The
Griffins only managed six shots in the entire contest.
The Lady Blue Hose were also a perfect 11-for-11 on their
clears on the afternoon.
Presbyterian (4-5) will next play its final home tilt of the
2007 season at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Johnson Field
at Old Bailey Stadium. The Lady Blue Hose will honor their
three seniors prior to the contest.
