FIVE MORE TO JOIN WOMEN’S LACROSSE FOR 2006-2007

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College’s second-year head women’s lacrosse coach Stephanie Allen announced on Thursday that five more recruits would be joining the Blue Hose for the 2006-2007 academic year.  Allen will be welcoming a total of nine new players to the PC campus this fall, including the program’s first high school All-American.

The first high school All-American to join the Blue Hose program will be Erin McBurnette (Roswell, Ga.).  The 5-10 goalkeeper was selected to the 2006 US Lacrosse Women’s Division High School All-America First Team back in June.  Under head coach Brent Hilpert, McBurnette left Woodward Academy as the school’s record holder for season and career save percentage with .630 in 2006 and .650 for her career.

“Erin has a certain composure and confidence in goal that makes her intimidating as a goalkeeper.  She is intense and resilient and can come up big for the team between the pipes in tight game situations,” commented Coach Allen.

Ali Carney (Syracuse, N.Y.) is a 5-7 attacker from Cicero-North Syracuse High School, playing for head coach Dave Ferretti.  An all-around athlete, Carney also ran cross-country and did track and field at Cicero-North Syracuse.  She will be a two-sport athlete at PC, competing for Coach Allen in the fall as a member of the cross-country squad.

“Ali is a tremendous ball handler and is an all-around tough athlete.  With her competitiveness and dependability, she will definitely be looked at to finish the ball this year,” stated Coach Allen.

A 5-6 midfielder, Brittni Dulaney (Rome, Ga.) starred at the Darlington School under the guidance of her mother, Theresa Dulaney, and Penny Braden.  Dulaney amassed 219 goals and 65 assists along with collecting 195 groundballs and 146 draw controls during her career at Darlington.  She was an All-State First Team selection as a junior, while being named to the US Lacrosse Academic All-America Team.  Dulaney was the team’s MVP three years running and their Best Offensive Player as a junior.  She also played basketball and softball at Darlington.

Coach Allen said, “Brittni has great field sense and is going to be an offensive weapon with her ability to shoot or look for the assist.  With her level of endurance and overall fitness, Brittni will be a huge asset to the midfield.”

Jordan Newberry (Atlanta, Ga.) is a 5-8 midfielder coming to PC via North Springs High School.  Newberry, under the mentorship of head coach Julie LaFramboise, served as the team’s captain and was selected as their offensive MVP.  She also competed for the Southeast National Team and Team Georgia.

“Jordan will step onto the field for us as a weapon filling both tactical and leadership roles.  A competitor and hard worker, I am excited to see Jordan take to a new level here at PC,” said Coach Allen.

A local product out of Greenville High School, Riviere Propst (Greenville, S.C.) is a 5-3 attacker bringing scoring power to the Blue Hose.  Playing for head coach Molly Miller, Propst was selected as the 2006 South Carolina Lacrosse League Offensive Player of the Year and named to the 2006 SCLL All-State First Team.  The 2006 Greenville Female Athlete of the Year, she was her team’s MVP twice and garnered the Coach’s Award as a sophomore.  Propst served as a team captain for all of her three years on varsity, notching 50 goals and 10 assists as a junior.

Coach Allen expressed, “Riviere is built for speed and to be a go-to player on the field.  She is a finisher with both technique and power that will help increase depth in our offense.”
