BLUE HOSE RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION
II NATIONAL STATISTICS
PCs Leopard moves to 2nd place in free throw percentage
CLINTON,
SC Presbyterian Colleges basketball teams
rank among the national leaders in this weeks NCAA
Division II statistics.
| The
womens basketball team, led by junior wing Toni
Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC), currently moved
to second place in the nation (NCAA Division II)
in free throw percentage at 89.3%. Leopard has
been ranked in the this category for the last four
weeks including times leading the nation. Leopard,
a former Ninety-Six High School standout, is
second on the team in scoring at 13.9 points per
game and is one of two players this season to
surpass the 1,000-point plateau in their career. |

In
addition, senior forward/center Rachel
Sloan (Greenville, SC) is 36th in NCAA
Division II in scoring at 18.0 points per game.
The former Carolina Academy standout is this
weeks South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Player of
the Week and became only the seventh player in SAC
womens basketball history to tally 1,000 points
and 1,000 rebounds their career. Sloan currently
has 1,823 career points and 1,002 career rebounds
to her credit. This marks the fifth time this
season that Sloan has been named SAC Player of the
Week. |
On
the mens side, the team moved up two spots to 8th in
the nation in scoring defense allowing only 62.6 points
per game. The Blue Hose lead the SAC in scoring defense
and rebound margin (+6.3).
On
the womens side, the team ranks 18th in the nation in
scoring margin, outscoring their opponents by an average
of 15.7 points per game.
Both
womens and mens Blue Hose basketball teams return
to action tomorrow when they travel to Salisbury, NC to
face the Indians of Catawba College. Womens team
looks to win a share of their fourth straight regular
season title while the men are playing for sole
possession of second place in the SAC regular season.
