Sloan receives this award
for the first time, but was an honorable mention All-American
selection last season. Last month, Sloan became the first Blue
Hose women’s basketball player to be named a Kodak
All-American. Sloan, a 6-0 senior
forward/center from Greenville, SC earns the award for the
second straight season. She is also a three-time honorable
mention Kodak All-American and two-time South Atlantic
Conference (SAC) Player of the Year selection. The former
Carolina Academy standout, who was named the 2000-01 SAC
Player of the Year selection, finishes her career in a Blue
Hose uniform as the program’s all-time leading scorer
(1,889) and rebounder (1,034). She is one of only seven
players in South Atlantic Conference history to reach 1,000
points and 1,000 rebounds in their career. In addition, Sloan
is the league’s all-time leader in career field goals made
(691) and free throws made (462) while ranking, 3rd in career
scoring (1,889), 3rd in career FG% (54.7%), 4th in steals
(264), and 6th in career rebounds (1,034) and tied for first
in SAC history in career games played (121). This season Sloan averaged
17.7 points per game, 8.4 rebounds, 0.80 blocks, 2.7 assists,
1.9 steals while shooting 51.5% from the field, 24.4% from the
three-point line and 78.1% from the charity stripe. She
tallied 11 double-doubles (pts-rbs) this season and ends her
career with 41. She also finished the season ranking in the
following SAC statistical categories: 4th scoring, T-5th
steals, 6th FG%, 5th rebs, 5th blocks, 7th FT%. The members of the 2001 Women’s Division II Bulletin Women’s First & Second Teams All-Americans is as follows:
