PRESBYTERIAN'S SLOAN NAMED SAC PLAYER OF WEEK

ROCK HILL, SC — Presbyterian College's Rachel Sloan has been named the initial South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2000-01 season. 

The 6-0, senior, forward, from Greenville, SC, averaged 22.5 points as she helped the Blue Hose to a split of games at the KSU/Ron Walker Memorial Tournament in Marietta, GA.

Sloan scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds in just 24 minutes of action in a 67-57 win over West Georgia in the opening game of the tournament. 

Against Kennesaw State in the final, Sloan scored a career-high 31 points and added 13 rebounds in an 83-80 overtime loss.  Her two free throws with three seconds left in regulation sent the game to overtime.

For the week, in addition to her 22.5 points per game, Sloan averaged 9.5 rebounds and added three assists and three steals.  For the week she shot 57% from both the field and the free throw line.
