ROCK HILL, SC — Presbyterian College's Rachel Sloan, of Greenville, SC, has been named this week's South Atlantic Conference women's Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Blue Hose to a pair of league wins last week.  It marks the third time the 6-0, senior, forward, from Carolina Academy, has earned the honor this season.

Senior Rachel Sloan

In a showdown with Catawba for first place in the league, Sloan recorded her 38th career double double, with 21 points and 11 rebounds, as Presbyterian drew even for the top spot with an 86-79 overtime win.  Against rival Newberry, she tossed in 19 points and grabbed six rebounds in just 14 minutes of action as the Blue Hose won 82-52.

Sloan averaged 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds for the week and added six steals.  She connected on 56.5% of her field goal attempts and was 13 of 15 (86.7%) from the line.  The senior has moved into sixth place on the SAC's all-time scoring list with 1,713 career points.

The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league's eight sports information directors.
