BLUE HOSE WOMEN'S HOOPS SHOOT PAST ANDERSON 91-65 ANDERSON, SC - Presbyterian College placed four players in double figures as the Blue Hose ran past Anderson College 91-65 in women's non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center. PC, 7-4 overall, was led by junior guard Katie Davis (Gainesville, GA) who scored a team-high 15 points, while junior forward Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC) and senior center Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC) each added 12 points and junior forward Ja'net Vicks (Greer, SC) came off the bench to add 10 points. The Blue Hose, who have won three straight, shot 60% from the field in the first half and 53% for the game. Anderson, 2-4, was led by Lateshia Williams who came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points, while Kelli Scott added 12 points and Julie Hart and Jennifer House each tallied 10 points. Turnovers were the key to the Blue Hose victory. PC forced 25 turnovers and scored 27 points off Lady Trojan turnovers. Anderson shot 65% from the field in the first half, but still trailed 45-32 at the break due to 18 first-half miscues. The game was close through most of the first half. PC built a 10-point lead seven minutes in the game, but Anderson rallied with a 20-13 run to cut the Blue Hose lead to 31-28 with 4:30 remaining in the first half. From that point, PC outscored the Lady Trojans 43-26 during the next 17 minutes to seize a 72-52 lead with 7:17 remaining in the game. The Blue Hose closed the game with a 13-2 run in the final 4:13 for their 26-point margin of victory. Both teams were excellent from the free throw line with PC hitting on 21-of-23 attempts while Anderson was 12-of-15. PC was able to play every healthy player on the active roster with 12 of 13 players scoring in the contest. |
