HOSE CRUSH FLYING FLEET 80-28 Clinton, SC - Presbyterian College had three players in double figures as they crushed Erskine College in women's basketball action Monday night in the Templeton Arena. PC shook off a sluggish first half where they led by only 16 points at 29-13. The second half was a different story as the Blue Hose went on a 19-0 run in the first 5 and half minutes to put the game out of reach at 48-13. The Lady Flying Fleet could not get any closer than 32 points down the stretch as all 13 active players for the Blue Hose played and 10 of them scored in the game. Senior forward Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC), the SAC Player of the Week, continued her stellar play with 21 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Joining Sloan in double figures was junior wing Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC) who came off the bench for 12 points and four rebounds while freshman guard Billie Haskins (Greensboro, GA) added 11 points. Junior forward Ja'net Vicks (Greer, SC) also had a solid outing off the bench with eight points and six rebounds while senior wing Tracy Woody (Mauldin, SC) chipped in eight points, five rebounds, and four steals. PC outrebounded the Lady Flying Fleet 52-37 after the rebound battle was tied at 20 entering halftime. The Blue Hose forced 36 Erskine turnovers and collected a season-high 18 steals. Erskine was led by freshman forward Sahkela Fuller (Cross Hill, SC) who tallied 10 points and junior forward Tasha James (Inman, SC) who added seven points. The Blue Hose improve to 3-3 on the season while Erskine falls to 1-1. Presbyterian returns to action this Saturday for their second straight home game when they host Lander University at 2:00 pm. |
