PC WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME OF THE HORTON HOMES TOURNAMENT GAME 84-78 AS THEY DEFEATED HOST SCHOOL GEORGIA COLLEGE & STATE UNIVERSITY
The Blue Hose place three on All-Tourney, Woody wins MVP

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA  -- The Georgia College & State University Lady
Bobcats were handed their first loss of the season Saturday in the 

championship game of the Horton Homes Tournament at the Centennial Center. 

GC&SU (5-1) fell 84-78 to Presbyterian College (6-4) as the Blue Hose win the tournament for the second straight year over the Lady Bobcats.  GC&SU used an early 13-2 run to build an eleven point lead five minutes into the first half, but the Blue Hose rallied to take a short lead late in the first half on Billie Haskins' three pointer. GC&SU went into the locker room at halftime with a 38-37 lead.

A tight game in the second half, PC used a 9-0 run to build a 70-59 advantage with 6:49 to play. The Lady Bobcats chipped away to cut the deficit down to one point at 77-76 with 1:27 to play, but the Blue Hose would not surrender the lead. PC's Tracy Woody hit seven out of eight free throws with under a minute to play to ice the game. Woody finished with career-high 24 points and was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.  Rachel Sloan led PC with 28 points and was also named to the All-Tournament team along with teammate Katie Davis. GC&SU was led by Shemika Turner who posted a career high 23 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Betsy Foy added 19 points, while Beth Heyer also reached double figures with 13 points. Foy and Turner were named to the All-Tournament team for GC&SU.

PC shot 50% (30-60) from the floor for the game, including a blistering 55% (17-31) in the second half.
