BLUE HOSE FALL TO KENNESAW ST. 83-80 IN OVERTIME OF THE RON WALKER MEMORIAL TOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

KENNESAW, GA - Senior forward Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC) scored a career-high 31 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Blue Hose, but it wasn't enough as the Kennesaw State pulled out a 83-80 win over PC in the championship game of the KSU/Ron Walker Memorial Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Hose took control early and held a 37-31 lead entering intermission after shooting 46.9% from the field. The Owls of KSU struggled in the first half, shooting only 37.9% from the field.

KSU turned things around in the second half and shot 56.0% and outscored the Blue Hose 38-32. PC's Sloan hit a pair of free throws with .03 seconds remaining to tie the score at 69-69 to push the game to overtime.

In the extra frame, KSU outscored the Blue Hose 14-11 including eight points coming on the charity stripe. PC had one chance to push the game to a second overtime, but junior forward Toni Leopard's (Ninety-Six, SC) three-pointer was just off the mark.

KSU was led by Amie Kane who tallied a game-high 28 points and added eight rebounds while Anna Szaniecka and Justine Pivac each added 15 points. Rounding out the double-figure scorers for the Owls was Monika Dajksler who added 10 points.

PC was led by Sloan career-high 31 points while freshman guard Bonnie Werner (Kennesaw, GA) added 13 points and Leopard added 11 points. Freshman Billie Haskins (Greensboro, GA) added 10 points off the bench.

PC drops to 2-3 on the season while KSU improves to 2-0 on the season. The Blue Hose will return to action this Monday, November 20 when they play their home opener of the 2000-01 season as they host Erskine College at 7:00 pm.
