BLUE HOSE ESCAPE WITH 72-62 WIN OVER MARS HILL
PC’s Sloan goes for 25 points and 10 rebounds in the win

CLINTON, SC – Presbyterian’s senior center Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC) scored a game-high 25 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Hose to a 72-62 win over Mars Hill College in South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action.

The first half saw each team take leads throughout, but the Blue Hose pulled ahead 32-27 at the halftime despite shooting 40.7% from the field. The Lady Lions stayed close thanks in part to shooting 50.0% in the first frame.

The second half saw the Blue Hose go out to a seven point lead (56-49) at the 5:09 mark only to see the Lady Lions come back on a 6-2 run to pull to within 60-57 with 2:10 remaining.

Presbyterian fought back and made nine-of-10 free throws attempts to seal the win.

PC was led by Sloan’s 25 points and 10 rebounds while junior forward Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC) who tallied 21 points on 11-of-12 shooting from the free throw line.

Mars Hill was led by junior forward Denise Shelton (Cambridge, IN) who tallied 19 points and five assists while senior guard Kristy Ray (Weaverville, NC) added 13 points. Rounding out the double figure scorers for Mars Hill was freshman forward Tiffany Atkins (Barnardsville, NC) who added 11 points and four rebounds.

The Blue Hose improve to 19-6 overall and 9-2 in the South Atlantic Conference while Mars Hill falls to 15-6 overall, 7-4 in league play.

Presbyterian extends their SAC home win streak to 34 games and their home regular season win streak to 29 games.
