BLUE HOSE CRUISE PAST LADY INDIANS 83-51 ON PC SENIOR NIGHT
PC’s Monroe dishes out a career-high 10 assists in the win

CLINTON, SC – Presbyterian College senior Amy Monroe (Tuscaloosa, AL) dished out a career-high 10 assists to lead the Blue Hose to an 83-51 win over Newberry College in women’s South Atlantic Conference basketball action.

The Blue Hose opened the game on a 20-4 run to take command. PC led 50-25 at intermission thanks in part to 19 first-half points by PC’s junior forward Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC).

The second half saw keep the lead throughout, with the largest coming at 33 points (83-50) with :18 seconds remaining.

PC held the Lady Indians 30.8% shooting from the field and out rebounded Newberry 50-34 on the glass.

PC was led by Leopard’s game-high 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field and senior center Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC) added 15 points and eight rebounds. Rounding out the double figure scorers for PC was junior guard Katie Davis (Gainesville, GA) who came off the bench to add 13 points. Monroe added a career-high seven rebounds to her career-best 10 assists.

Newberry was led by junior guard Katina Roseborough (Winnsboro, SC) who tallied 13 points and added three assists while junior forward Carlie Smith (Clinton, SC) added 12 points. Junior forward Shawanna Cook (Loris, SC) added 10 points.

PC’s senior class was honored tonight having compiled a three-plus year record of 96-23 overall and a 48-10 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. These three seniors Monroe, Sloan, and Tracy Woody will end their career as the most successful senior class in program history.

The Blue Hose improve to 21-7 overall, 11-3 in the SAC while Newberry falls to 5-21 overall and 0-14 in league play.

The Blue Hose extended their SAC home win streak to 36 games and their regular season home win streak to 30 games with the win tonight.
