NORTH DAKOTA STATE DEFEATS #18 PRESBYTERIAN 66-51 IN
FIRST GAME OF THE 4TH ANNUAL DISNEY TIPOFF CLASSIC
ORLANDO,
FL - Second-ranked North Dakota State University
shook off a cold start to defeat #18 Presbyterian
College 66-51 in the first game of the 4th Annual Disney
Tip-off Classic in Orlando, FL.
The Blue
Hose jumped out to a 11-5 lead thanks in part to five
early points by preseason All-American senior forward Rachel
Sloan (Greenville, SC). The Bison opened the game
missing their first five shots. NDSU turned things
around by outscoring the Blue Hose 32-9 to take a 38-20
halftime lead. Presbyterian's
cold shooting in the first half (26.7%) helped the Bison
stake a 18-point lead at intermission.
The Blue
Hose fought back in the second half, cutting the lead to
15 points on several occasions. The Bison would not let
the Blue Hose get any closer, and won the game by the
final score of 66-51. PC struggled from the field,
shooting 31.8% for the game while the Bison shot 46.4%.
For the
game, PC outrebounded the Bison 42-38 including tallying
19 offensive rebounds. The Blue Hose were led by Sloan
who recorded her first double-double of the season with
22 points and 10 rebounds while adding three blocks.
Junior wing Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC) added
12 points and five rebounds. Sophomore center Heather
Parnell (Charlotte, NC) came off the bench to grab
nine rebounds including five offensive boards.
The
second-ranked Bison were led by guard Amanda Gehrke who
tallied a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds while
forward Jayne Boeddeker added 17 points.

Presbyterian returns to action tomorrow afternoon at
3:30 pm when they will meet Lake Superior State
University.
