PC'S LATE CHARGE PUTS AWAY TUSCULUM, 75-48

GREENEVILLE, TN --- Presbyterian College overcame cold shooting in the first half and used a 28-5 second run in defeating Tusculum College 75-48 Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action at Alpine Arena.  The Blue Hose (17-5, 7-1 SAC) win their fifth game in a row and remain in a first-place tie with SAC co-leader Catawba College.

The Pioneers drop their fifth game in a row and fall to 8-11 overall and 1-7 in the league. PC got a slow start out of the game in shooting 10-for-31 from the floor for 32 percent, but TC failed to take advantage in shooting 38 percent and committing 18 first half turnovers.  The Blue Hose led 31-22 at the half.

In the second half, Tusculum rallied and opened with a 10-2 spurt to trail 33-32 with 17:24 left.  With PC leading 37-35 with 15:06, the Blue Hose mounted at 28-5 run over the next 13:33 to run out to a 65-40 lead in putting the game out of reach.

PC's Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, S.C.0 led all scorers with 18 points while Katie Davis (Gainesville, Ga.) added 16 points and shot 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.  Nicole Chittam (Lancaster, S.C.) posted a career-high 11 points off the bench, while Rachel Sloan (Greenville, S.C.) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Pioneers was led by Whitley Campbell's (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) 12 points, while Kristen New (Russell, Ky.) posted 10 markers in the losing effort.

Tusculum returns to the hardwood Wednesday night when they host Catawba College for a 6:00 p.m. SAC contest at Alpine Arena.  PC will be on the road Wednesday as they face league rival Wingate University at Cuddy Arena.
