HOSE SLIP PAST LADY PACERS 73-58 IN OVERTIME Clinton, SC - Presbyterian College outscored USC Aiken 17-2 in overtime to defeat the Lady Pacers 73-58 in women's basketball action Monday night. USC Aiken, who led the entire first half, scored the last seven points of regulation to tie the game at 56-56 and force overtime. Lady Pacer sophomore guard Jami Cornwell (Mt. Crawford, VA) scored six points during that span for USC Aiken. The Lady Pacers opened the game on a 14-4 run in the first 10 minutes before PC was able to comeback. The Blue Hose used a 8-0 run in the next two minutes to cut the lead to 14-12 with 7:22 remaining first half. USC Aiken was able to respond and pushed the lead back to six points right before halftime, taking a 25-19 lead into intermission. The lead increased to eight points (27-19) to open the second half, but PC used a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 29-27 at the 15:24 mark. The Blue Hose took their first lead since the opening moments at the 13:24 mark (32-31) on a jumper by senior wing Tracy Woody (Mauldin, SC). The Blue Hose pushed the lead to as many as eight points (55-47) with :40 seconds remaining before USC Aiken made their run to tie the game and force overtime. PC's defense was the key down the stretch and forced 23 turnovers for the game. PC was led by Woody who tallied a team-high 18 points and added three rebounds while senior center Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC) added 17 points and 15 rebounds while junior forward Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC) added 17 points and four steals. USC Aiken was led by Cornwell's game-high 24 points and six assists while sophomore guard Julie Szabo (Haverhill, MA) added 12 points and five rebounds. The Blue Hose improve to 9-4 overall and take a break until January 6 when they host Tusculum College to open South Atlantic Conference play. The Lady Pacers fall to 6-4 overall on the season.
