BLUE HOSE DEFEAT BULLDOGS 87-74
 
IN SAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ACTION
PC places all five starters in double figures

CLINTON, SC – Presbyterian College junior forward Toni Leopard (Ninety-Six, SC) scored 19 points to lead five Blue Hose in double figures as PC defeated Wingate University 87-74 in South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action.  

The Blue Hose broke open a closely contested game early second half on a 15-6  run to go ahead 54-44 with 14:28 remaining. Wingate fought back and tried to cut into the lead, but could not get any closer than nine points on several occasions including the last coming at the 3:56 mark with PC ahead 72-63. The Blue Hose ended the game hitting 14-of-14 free throws in the last four minutes.  

Leopard shot seven-for-seven at the charity stripe as PC on night shot 35-of-44 free throws, good for a 79.5% free throw percentage.  

Joining Leopard for scoring honors was senior center Rachel Sloan (Greenville, SC) who tallied her 35 career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Tracy Woody (Mauldin, SC) added 15 points, while freshman guard Bonnie Werner (Kennesaw, GA) added 14 points and junior guard Katie Davis (Gainesville, GA) added 10 points.  

Wingate was led by a pair of seniors in center Temeshia Dawkins (Shelby, NC) and guard Tricia Peckham (Cary, NC) who each scored 19 points.  

PC improves to 11-4 overall, 2-0 in the SAC while Wingate University falls to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in the league.  

The Blue Hose extend their home regular season win streak to 25 games and their home SAC win streak to 31 games.
