Leopard named Tournament MVP for the second time this season

HICKORY, NC — Presbyterian College women’s basketball players Toni Leopard and Dana Birnie were named to the first annual SAC/CIAA Challenge All-Tournament team announced today.

Leopard, a 6-0 senior forward from Ninety-Six, SC, was named Tournament MVP after averaging 24.0 points, 5.0 rebounds while shooting 65.5% from the field, 55.0% from three-point range, and was a perfect five-for-five from the free throw line. Leopard exploded for 20 of her 29 points in PC’s 88-40 win over Livingstone College in the first half, putting the game away.

Birnie, a 6-0 freshman forward from Suwanee, GA, was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals while shooting 66.7% from the field, 100% from three-point land, and 71.4% from the free throw line. This marks the second time this season that both Leopard and Birnie have been named to the All-Tournament teams. Earlier this season in Savannah, GA, they both were named to the All-Tournament team and Leopard was named Tournament MVP of the AASU/Chatham Orthopaedic Tip-Off Classic.

The Blue Hose, ranked #18 in last week’s USA Today/ESPN/WBCA NCAA Division II poll, are currently 6-0 on the season. They return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Aiken, SC to face the Lady Pacers of USC Aiken (6-1) at 7:00 pm.
