BLUE
HOSE WOMENS HOOPS RETURNS TO NCAA DIVISION II
SOUTH ATLANTIC REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
CLINTON,
S.C. Presbyterian College womens basketball team has
been selected to participate the 2002 NCAA Division II South
Atlantic Regional tournament announced today by NCAA
officials.
Mars
Hill College will serve as host of the 2002 South Atlantic
Regional and enters the six-team tournament at the #1 seed.
All games will be played in Stanford Arena in Mars Hill, NC on
the Mars Hill College campus.
Presbyterian (21-8) earned
the at-large bid after finishing runner-up for the 2002 Food
Lion/South Atlantic Conference Tournament this past Saturday
with a 85-71 loss to top seed Mars Hill College in the
championship game. The Blue Hose advance to the NCAA South
Atlantic Regional for the six time in the last eight seasons.
PC last played in the NCAA postseason during the 1999-2000
season. The Blue Hose missed out on an at-large bid last
season.
Presbyterian, the #4 seed,
will play Virginia State University Trojanettes, the #5 seed,
on Thursday, March 7 at 8:00 pm. The Trojanettes earned an
automatic bid after winning the 2002 CIAA Tournament title
with a 64-57 victory over Winston-Salem State University
yesterday.
Thursdays first round
and semifinal games will be at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The region
championship game will be on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
