PRESBYTERIAN’S NICOLE CHITTAM NAMED
SAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROCK HILL, SC — Presbyterian College senior Nicole Chittam, of Lancaster, SC, has been named this week’s South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. 

Chittam, a 5-7, guard from Lancaster High School, helped the Blue Hose to a pair of wins last week to move to third in the league standings.  It is her first honor this season.

The Blue Hose opened the week with a 76-61 upset of ninth-ranked Mars Hill.  Chittam came off the bench to notch a then career-high 15 points, hitting on a trio of three-pointers.  Presbyterian followed up with a 77-70 win over Lenoir-Rhyne. Chittam would surpass her career-high, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the win.

For the week, she averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, while adding four assists and three steals. She connected on 50% (9-of-18) of her field goals, including 6-of-9 from three-point range.

Chittam currently ranks seventh in the SAC in three-point percentage at 38.4% and is 10th in three-pointers made at 1.2 per contest.  For the season, she is now averaging 6.7 points and 2.2 rebounds a game. Presbyterian is currently 17-7 and entered last week ranked ninth in the South Atlantic Region.

The SAC Player of the Week is voted on by the league’s eight Sports Information Directors.
