PRESBYTERIAN’S LEOPARD NAMED SAC PLAYER OF WEEK

ROCK HILL, SC — Presbyterian College’s Toni Leopard, of Ninety-Six, SC, has been named the initial 2001-02 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.  The 6-0, senior, forward from Ninety-Six High School helped the Blue Hose to a pair of wins and was named MVP at the AASU/Chatham Orthopaedics Tip-Off Classic in Savannah, GA.

Leopard scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds in an opening game 65-60 win over Ferris State, then added a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds in the 88-70 win over Fayetteville State in the championship game.

For the week, Leopard averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds.  She added three assists, a block and four steals.  The senior connected on nearly 50% of her field goal attempts (13-28), including a pair of three pointers, and was a perfect 15-of-15 from the line.

The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league’s eight sports information directors.
