HOSE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST
2001-02 FOOD LION/SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE
TOURNAMENT
1ST
ROUND GAME TOMORROW
CLINTON,
SC — Presbyterian College women’s basketball team will
host a first round game of the 2001-02 Food Lion/South
Atlantic Conference Tournament tomorrow announced today.
The Blue Hose (19-7, 10-4
in SAC) are the #2 seed in this week’s tournament and will
host the #7 seeded Lady Pioneers of Tusculum College (8-18,
3-11 SAC) at 7:00
pm at the Ross E. Templeton P.E. Center.
Admission to the first
round game will be $6 for adults, $3 for students and children
under 12, and college students with college ID are $1. The
first 100 college students with ID will get in free.
The winner of the game will
play the winner of the #3 seed Catawba College/#6 seed Wingate
University game in the semifinals on Friday, March 1 at 8:00
pm in Hickory, NC at the Catawba Valley Community Center. The
championship game is set for 4:00 pm at the Catawba Valley
Community Center on Saturday, March 2, 2002.
Presbyterian College and
Tusculum College played twice during the regular season with
the Blue Hose winning both contests. PC won 70-56 on January 5
in Greeneville, TN and won 86-84 at home on February 2.
The Blue Hose have won four
Food Lion/SAC Tournament titles including three straight from
1998 to 2000. The four titles is the second most in SAC
history behind Wingate University’s five titles. Catawba
College, who has won two titles and is the defending champion,
is the only other women’s basketball program to win the
title.
