BLUE HOSE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL EARN #6 SEED IN UPCOMING FOOD LION/SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women’s basketball team will be the #6 seed in next week’s Food Lion/South Atlantic Conference Basketball Tournament announced today by league officials.

The Blue Hose (12-14, 7-7 SAC) finished the SAC regular season in a five-way tie for third place after defeating Newberry College 76-49 at home last Saturday. The five-way tie for third place was broken by league officials using the league’s tie-breaking procedures.

Presbyterian College will travel to Hickory, N.C. on Wednesday, March 5 to face the #3 seed Lenoir-Rhyne College Bears at 6:00 pm. The winner of Wednesday’s quarterfinal game will face the winner of the #2 seed Carson-Newman College Lady Eagles/#7 seed Wingate University Bulldogs game on Saturday, March 8 at 6:00 pm on the campus of the Catawba Valley Community Center in Hickory, N.C.. The championship game will take on Sunday, March 9 at 2:00 pm. The winner of the tournament title will earn an automatic bid to next weekend’s NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament.

This season the Blue Hose and Bears split the season series with both teams winning on their respective home courts. PC won 69-60 at home back on January 11 while the Lady Bears evened the season series with a 79-74 home win on February 22. The last time these two teams met the SAC Tournament was during the 1998-99 season in the opening round with the Blue Hose winning 98-49.

Presbyterian College owns a 16-7 record in the SAC Tournament dating back to the initial tournament in 1991. In addition, they are 7-5 in first round games including holding a five-game win streak.

Newberry/Catawba winner vs. Tusculum/Mars Hill winner, 2 pm
Wingate/Carson-Newman winner vs. Presbyterian/L-R winner, 6 pm

Finals - Sunday, March 9 (At CVCC, Hickory, NC) - 2 pm
