LEOPARD
NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
AT LANDER UNIVERSITY

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Toni Leopard, a native of Ninety
Six, was named Lander's part-time assistant women's
basketball coach announced Lander head coach Jonathan
Norton.
Leopard begins her first season with the Lady Senators after
coaching for one season and starring for four as a player
at nearby Presbyterian College. |
"We are very excited that Toni is joining our program, said
Norton. She not only has a passion for basketball, but she
has an incredible understanding for the game. Coach Leopard has
learned from one of the best coaches in the country in (former
PC coach) Beth Couture and her energy and enthusiasm will help
make me a better coach.
I have no doubt that Coach Leopard will help us build an
outstanding womens program."
As a player at Presbyterian, Leopard helped the Lady Blue Hose
compile a four-year record of 95-25 while making three trips to
the NCAA Division II national tournament in 1998-99, 1999-2000
and 2001-02 and win a pair of South Atlantic Conference regular
season and tournament titles.
Leopard, a 2001-02 Daktronics All-Region and three-time All-SAC
selection, finished her career as the program's second leading
scorer (1,739) and career leader in free throw percentage
(83.4%) and three-point field goal percentage (36.1%). In
addition, Leopard finished third in the program history in made
field goals (593), fourth in career rebounds (653), fifth in
made three-pointers (107) and scoring average (14.5).
She also finished sixth in SAC history in career scoring, tied for
third in career games played (120), fourth in made free throws
(446) and career three-point percentage, and sixth in career
free throw percentage.
