BUFFORD NAMED BLUE HOSE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ASSISTANT COACH

CLINTON, SC — Althea Bufford has been named Presbyterian College women’s basketball assistant coach announced today by 1st-year head coach Jessica Vanco.

Bufford comes to Presbyterian College from Furman University where she served as an assistant coach for the Lady Paladins for the last two seasons.

She will be in charge of the program’s recruiting and scouting along with helping Coach Vanco in all other aspects of the program.

Bufford was a four-year letterwinner with the Lady Paladins from 1999-02 and was a member of the 1999-2000 team that won the Southern Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. During her playing career at Furman, she received the most improved academic award in 2000 and was named to the Navy All-Tournament team in 2001.

Bufford, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University in 2002.

“Althea brings excitement and energy to the program,” said Vanco. “She has a tremendous work ethic and is very passionate about the game of basketball. Althea is rising star in this profession and we are lucky to have her at Presbyterian College.”
