L-R Women's Basketball Breezes By Presbyterian,

Hickory, N.C. -  The Lenoir-Rhyne College Women's Basketball Team defeated Presbyterian College, 76-60, Saturday on Senior Night in a South Atlantic Conference game at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bears, who beat the Blue Hose for the sixth straight time, improved to 14-11 on the year and 7-5 in league play while PC fell to 7-18 and 4-8, respectively.

Lenoir-Rhyne's offensive attack was spearheaded by senior guard Lanica Williams (Newport News, Va./Alabama A&M) and senior center Crystal Clary (Hampton, Va./Campbell University).  Williams scored a game-high 25 points with six three-pointers while Clary notched her 14th double-double of the year, 20 points and 14 rebounds, and became the 13th member of the Bears' 1,000-point club.

Williams was pivotal in the second half, scoring 17 points after intermission, and breaking open a close game.  With the Bears ahead 39-35 three minutes into the second half, Williams hit back-to-back three-pointers that keyed an 8-0 run which pushed the lead to 47-35 and Presbyterian could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

PC held an impressive 46-32 edge on the boards but shot just 39 percent from the field (22-of-56) and turned the ball over 28 times.  Cameron Cook (Greensboro, N.C.) led the Blue Hose with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Brittany Carroll (Dunn, N.C.) pulled down 11 rebounds as well.

Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Newberry, S.C., to take on league-rival Newberry while Presbyterian visits Greeneville, Tenn., to face Tusculum.  Both games begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
