BRAMBLE, MARQUEZ & PARRIS SIGN WITH
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

CLINTON, S.C. — Heather Bramble, Marie Marquez and Jessica Parris have signed national letters of intent to play women’s basketball at Presbyterian College announced today by first-year head coach Jessica Vanco.

Bramble, a 6-2 center from Raleigh, N.C., currently plays for Raleigh Ravenscroft School and head coach Ned Gonet. This past season, she averaged 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while leading her team to a 17-16 overall record and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.

“Heather will be a great addition in the post for our program for the next four years,” said Vanco. “She has the discipline and dedication to get the job done in the paint at both ends of the floor.”

Marquez, a 5-5 point guard from Greenville, S.C., currently plays for J.L. Mann High School and head coach and former Blue Hose standout, Darah Huffman. This past season, Marquez averaged 11.0 points, 8.0 steals, 7.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds en route to all-region and all-county honors while leading her team to a 25-3 record and a fifth place finish in the state playoffs.

“She is a competitive player who finds away to win in everything she does. She is a playmaker who makes her teammates around her better and is a proven leader. She will add another long-range threat to the backcourt and has great vision of the floor both on offense and defense.”

Parris, a 5-10 guard/forward from Inman, S.C., currently plays for Chapman High School and head coach Melissa Fowler. This past season, she averaged 19.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 2.9 assists while being named to the all-region, all-area, and all-state teams while leading her team to the first round of the state playoffs.

“She is a versatile player who can play either shooting guard or small forward positions. Her ability to post up will provide match-up problems for our opponents. She is a great addition to our program and we look forward to her contributions over the next four years.”

“I am very excited about these three young ladies,” said Vanco. “They come from strong basketball programs and have a tremendous work ethic. In addition, they have a winning attitude and are always in the gym improving their game. They are the future of Presbyterian Women’s Basketball and I am confident they will be successful in the classroom and on the court.”
