LADY BLUE HOSE BACK ON WINNING TRACK WITH ROAD WIN
 AT ALDERSON-BROADDUS 67-55

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Presbyterian College women’s basketball team snapped its one-game losing streak with a 67-55 road victory over the host Battlers of Alderson-Broaddus College in Rex Pyles Arena on Saturday afternoon.

PC improves to 4-1 on the young season, while Alderson-Broaddus remains winless at 0-3.  The Lady Blue Hose will continue their West Virginia campaign as PC takes on Davis & Elkins College tomorrow at 2:00 in Elkins.

Despite only have six players on the squad, A-B hung tough in the first half and played the Lady Blue Hose to a 27-27 halftime score. The Battlers’ sophomore guard Sonya Jones (Ripley, W.Va.) led all players with 12 points in the first 20 minutes on 5-of-9 shooting, while helping her team to a 19-15 rebounding margin with eight boards.  For PC, senior forward Wesley Campbell (Greenville, S.C.) tallied seven points, while senior Cameron Cook (Greensboro, N.C.) pulled down five rebounds.

The game was tied for the last time at 11:05 when senior guard Tia Lafferty (Grafton, W.Va.) connected on a three-pointer to knot the game at 38-38.  From there, the Lady Blue Hose went on a 21-12 run to hold their biggest advantage of the game, 59-50, with 3:16 left in the game.

Senior Rebecca Wessinger (Laurens, S.C.) led PC with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while Campbell finished with 11 points and six boards.  Freshman forward Sharie Hopkins (Chesapeake, Va.) added 11 points off the bench – all in the second half – and chipped in eight caroms as well.

Jones finished with 20 points and a game-best 10 rebounds, while Lafferty contributed 12 points.  Junior Kim Nakamura (Pomona, Calif.) also had a double-double on 10 points and 10 boards.
