BALANCED ATTACK LEADS LADY BLUE HOSE PAST COUGARS 59-52

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College placed three players in double figures led by senior forward Rebecca Wessinger (Laurens, S.C.) en route to a 59-52 victory over Columbus State University in the first day of the SAC/PBC Clash held at the Ross E. Templeton Center Friday night.

The Lady Blue Hose held the lead for the majority of the game as the Cougars only lead came at 4-3 on a layup by junior guard Paige Howard (Pulaski, Tenn.) at the 16:41 mark of the first half.

PC held a nine point lead after five and a half minutes gone by in the first half before the Cougars pulled within two with 2:25 left in the opening half.

After holding a three point halftime lead, the Lady Blue Hose pushed the lead to five with 16:43 remaining in the contest, but Columbus State pulled within one on two different occasions, but PC countered on the next offensive possession on both occasions to push out the lead.

Wessinger led the Lady Blue Hose with 14 points and nine rebounds. Amy Jones (Warthen, Ga.) finished with 13 points, while Cameron Cook (Greensboro, NC) finished with 10.

Erin Gibbs and Erica Jones both had 10 points to lead the Cougars.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow night in the Clash. Columbus State will take on Newberry College in a 6 pm contest, while PC will take on Lander University at 8 pm.
