Wednesday, November 30, 2005 LADY BLUE HOSE HOLD OFF ERSKINE 73-67DUE WEST, S.C. – Presbyterian College placed five players in double figures, led by senior Rebecca Wessinger's (Laurens, SC) 20 points, on their way to a 73-67 victory over Erskine College in women’s basketball action Wednesday night. With the win, the Lady Blue Hose move to 6-1 overall, while the Flying Fleet fall to 2-2. PC came out of the gate firing in the first half as the Lady Blue Hose shot 51% in the first half to take a 37-29 lead heading into halftime. In the second half, Erskine battled back to tie the game and to take the lead, but PC rallied late to pull away from Erskine. Wessinger led the Blue Hose with 20 points and six rebounds, while freshman Sharie Hopkins (Chesapeake, Va.) and sophomore Amy Jones (Warthen, Ga.) finished with eleven. Senior Wesley Campbell (Greenville, SC) and freshman Morgan Johnson (Marietta, Ga.) both chipped in with 10 points. Melissa Woods led Erskine with 16 points, while teammate Kristy Vaughn finished with 14. Stephanie Jenkins and Lisa Jackson both finished with 10 points for the Flying Fleet. The Lady Blue Hose will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they travel to Petersburg, Va. to take on Virginia State University in a 2:00 pm contest.
