JOHNSON SIGNS WITH
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CLINTON, S.C. —
Morgan Johnson has
signed a national letter of intent to play women’s basketball
at Presbyterian College announced today by first-year head coach
Jessica Vanco.
Johnson, a 6-0 forward from Marietta, GA, currently
attends for Walton High School where she plays for head coach Chris
Williams. As a senior, she averaged 16.2 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 2.8
spg, and 3.1 bpg while shooting 56.2% from the field.
She will graduate from Walton High School in May as
one of the most decorated players in the history of the
women’s basketball program. Johnson led her team in rebounding
while earning the team’s “Best Offensive Player and Most
Outstanding Player” honors for three straight years. In
addition, she joined the program’s 1,000-point club with 1,349
career points and added 864 career rebounds. She earned All-Cobb
County honors as a junior and senior and was named to the
Atlanta Tip-Off Club Team as a senior.
“Morgan is going to be an immediate help us in the
post,” said Vanco. “Morgan is a very athletic post player
who finishes in the paint with contact and is a very
aggressive rebounder on both ends of the floor. She will be
competing for a starting spot in the post next year. Morgan runs
the floor well for a frontline player and has a very high
basketball IQ with the knack for getting the ball on the
defensive end.”
Johnson becomes the fifth player to sign with the
Blue Hose during the 2004-05 academic year. She joins Kerianne Blease of Saluda, S.C., Heather Bramble of Raleigh, N.C., Marie Marquez of Greenville, S.C., and Jessica Parris of Inman, S.C. in the Blue Hose 2004-05 signing
class.
